A Season for Giving

By Susan Brown

The holidays remind us to think of others and do our part to improve the lives of those around us. In this spirit, the Fox Run community will be hosting a food drive to benefit the Food Pantry of Plainsboro Township.

Food donations may be left in the boxes in the leasing office or dropped off by the rent box near the rear of the building. The Plainsboro Food Pantry is in specific need of:

  • Sugar & sugar substitutes
  • Cold cereals – whole grain & sweetened
  • Hot cereals – farina, oatmeal, grits
  • Pancake mix & syrup
  • Fruit – canned or packaged; low-sugar preferred
  • Meals – canned; beef stew, chili, mac n’ cheese, mac n’ beef
  • Meals – boxed; mac n’ cheese, Hamburger Helper, Goya beans and rice, taco mixes
  • Tomatoes – cannes; crushed, diced, paste, stewed, whole
  • Pasta sauce – jarred
  • Noodles – dry; no pasta please
  • Potatoes (boxed) and rise; plain or mixes
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Condiments – ketchup, mustard, mayo, oil, vinegar, salad dressing, BBQ sause

What You Need to Know About Bed Bugs

By Raquel Batista

You may have seen some of the recent news stories about the recent bed bug issues facing New York City, and we want to help you know how to identify and deal with bed bugs in the event you suspect they are within your home.

Please take a look at the ways to identify and deal with bed bugs below, and be sure to call your building supervisor or the Vantage hotline at 1-888-867-2497 if you have any issues or questions.

How to Identify a Bed Bug:

Bed bugs are typically reddish-brown in color with a flat, oval body that measures approximately ¼ of an inch. They prefer to hide close to a bed, but can spread to other areas in the home over time.

How Do Bed Bugs Enter the Home:

Bed bugs may enter an apartment or home via luggage, computer cases, clothing or belongings that have been where bed bugs are present – this could be during travel or on public transportation.

Where Are Bed bugs Found In the Home:

Bed bugs are usually found near where people sleep, and hide within the cracks and crevices of mattresses, box springs, upholstered furniture, along floorboards and in computers.

Preventing Bed bugs:

It’s important to check for evidence of bed bugs in your home by inspecting linens, mattresses, box springs and wood or upholstered furniture, specifically noting any tiny spots of blood on fabric and searching crevices where bed bugs could hide. If you or your family goes on vacation, make sure to store your luggage on a suitcase holder or in the bathtub as you inspect your hotel room.

What To Do If You Think You Have Bed Bugs:

Do not attempt to solve the bed bug problem yourself. Pesticides – even the ones commonly available in stores – can be hazardous to people and pets, and bed bugs are particularly hard to treat. It’s very important to notify your building supervisor and call the Vantage hotline, 1-888-867-2497, if you believe you may have bed bugs.

New Vantage Rent Bill

By Raquel Batista

Beginning tomorrow (September 1st) Vantage residents will receive a freshly formatted Vantage rent bill.

The new rent bill clearly describes residents’ previous charges and payments, as well as their current rent charges. The new rent bill also details any amounts (such as major capital improvements or late fees) that were applied during the previous month.

For residents eligible for Section 8, the new rent bill lists separately the total amount they owe and the total amount paid by Section 8.

To ensure payments are processed accurately and efficiently, the new rent bill includes a payment stub that should be included in the envelope with check or money order payments. An overview of the new rent bill may be downloaded in English or en Español.

We hope this new format is easy to understand, and as always our residents are encouraged to call Vantage toll-free at 1-888-867-2497 with any questions.
